Debagging Machine Comprehensive Guide – Understanding Different Types

What is a debagging machine?

A debagging machine, also known as a bag emptying machine, is an automated machine used to open and empty bags of material. It can be used in various industries such as food, chemical, animal feed, and construction. Compared to manual bag emptying, debagging machines are faster, have a high material emptying rate, and are safer.

Based on market needs, VPEKS offers three types of bag emptying machines to provide suitable solutions for customers. This article will give you a detailed understanding of VPEKS’s different debagging machines so that you can make a better choice.

1. Column Debagging Machine

The column debagging machine combines the advantages of a column palletizer. It occupies a small footprint and offers high flexibility, making it suitable for production environments with limited space. It can process 100-120 bags per hour, with a maximum load capacity of 80kg. Its relatively low cost makes it an ideal choice for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Working Process

The end effector of the column debagging machine has two rows of spikes. When the machine is not running, the spikes are retracted. When the machine starts, the spikes insert downwards into the bag to grasp it and move it to the hopper. A cutter at the discharge port cuts the bag open, and gravity allows the material inside the bag to be quickly emptied and fall into the hopper. After the material starts to discharge, the machine’s end effector rotates, vibrates, and taps, which helps to completely discharge materials with poor flowability, reducing raw material waste.

After the bag is emptied, the robotic arm moves it to the collection point, detaches it from the end spikes, and then performs the next debagging action.

2. Robotic Arm Debagging Machine

The robotic arm debagging machine uses an industrial robot as its main body. It can process 200-300 bags per hour, with a maximum load capacity of 180kg. It has a strong processing capacity and a relatively high cost, making it suitable for most enterprises.

Working Process

The robotic bag emptying machine uses claws to pick up bags from a conveyor belt or pallet, then moves the bags to a cutter. The robotic arm pushes the bag forward to cut it, allowing the material to fall into the hopper. Similar to the column debagging machine, when the robot moves to the hopper position, the cylinder on the end gripper drives the gripper system to vibrate, ensuring that the material inside the bag is completely discharged. Once completed, the robot places the empty bag at the collection point for the next action.

3. Layer-by-Layer Debagging Machine

Unlike column and robotic debagging machines that pick up one bag at a time, the layer-by-layer bag emptying machine can pick up an entire layer of bags from a pallet at once. It can process 400-800 bags of material per hour, with a material emptying rate of 99.99%. It can automatically collect pallets and compress empty bags. The layer-by-layer debagging machine can integrate automatic pallet feeding and empty pallet collection systems, offering high production capacity and automation, but at a higher cost. For enterprises with high-volume production needs, the layer-by-layer debagging machine can provide a comprehensive debagging solution.

Working Process

When a pallet stacked with multiple layers of bags is conveyed to the working area, the lifting device of the layer-by-layer debagging machine automatically picks up the topmost layer of bags and transports them to the bag-breaking mechanism. The bags are cut open, and the material falls into the hopper below, while the waste bags are compressed, collected, and discharged by an internal screw conveyor.

The layer-by-layer debagging machine can integrate automatic pallet feeding and empty pallet collection systems. When all bags on a pallet have been removed, the empty pallet is automatically conveyed to the pallet storage.

Advantages of Debagging Machines

Modern enterprises need debagging machines, which cover multiple aspects such as efficiency, safety, cost, and environment.

1. Improve Production Efficiency

Manual bag unpacking is slow and inefficient, especially on production lines that require a large amount of inventory input. Bag emptying machines can process hundreds or thousands of bags in batches, ensuring continuous and uninterrupted operation of the production line.

2. Easy to Integrate

Debagging machines can be seamlessly connected to subsequent conveying equipment such as pipelines, metering, and mixing, achieving full automation from raw material input to product processing, and improving overall automated production levels and performance.

3. Ensure Employee Safety

Using a debagging machine keeps employees away from cutting tools, reducing the risk of injury, and avoiding direct contact with some toxic or irritating raw materials.

4. Reduce Raw Material Waste

Debagging machines can maximize the emptying of material from bags, and with enclosed operation and efficient dust removal, they effectively prevent spills and airborne particles, reducing resource waste and improving raw material utilization.

5. Ensure Product Quality and Stability

Manual bag unpacking may introduce external contamination. Automated debagging machines can effectively avoid secondary contamination during the debagging process, ensuring product quality.
